The premiere performance wear company has unveiled their newest collection, entitled “Gameday”, itself a continuation of the past several releases. Galvin Green is widely known for creating some of the best, most long lasting golf specific garments in the industry. They have a precision for detail that are matched by few and have a cult like following, especially in some of the higher end green grass shops.
Galvin Green is on the higher end of the price spectrum, but as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. With this company it’s very true. The company prides itself in what it does and it shows. They use cutting edge materials and designs, which usually will trickle down to the rest of the industry several years later.
With this innovation comes a price, and as such somewhat limits to which PGA head professionals decide to carry the line. But that’s okay. Galvin Green knows their position in the playing field and isn’t shy about letting people know who their primary target market is. What some North Americans may not realize is that their target market is big around the world, as evidenced by how they’ve been perceived, and received, in Europe, Asia and Australia.
The Gameday Collection has Galvin Green’s love of prints on the shirts and solids on the outerwear.
14 Gore-Tex waterproof jackets are available for men including SHAKEDRY (Angus $449), a full zip jacket that has “superstretch” panels across the back. The jacket weighs a mere 210g and has cuffs that help prevent abraison.
The new C-KNIT lined jacket (ACTION $699) has strengthened shoulders and lower back, ideal for golfers who prefer to carry their clubs as well as superstretch inserts on the elbows and back. This jacket is designed to provide the wearer with extra warmth while still allowing flexibility and range of motion.
There is also the ACE jacket, with a carbon look zipper which carries and MSRP of $449
To go along with the jackets, Galvin Green has five different GORE-TEX waterproof pant options, which is highlighted by the the ALPHA ($599) which has the C-KNIT material lining the inside to prevent it from “jamming up” against the pants underneath.
APOLLO ($349), which has ben quite successful for the company, is a full-zip jacket with ultra-lightweight GORE-TEX Paclite™ fabric. There are now three new colourway options, including White/Cool grey/Navy/Red, and a new a pretty slick half-zip jacket (ADEN – $349) which comes in Navy/White.
As part of their environmental awareness, around 70% of the garments are now produced using environmental Bluesign® approved fabric or certified by OEKO-TEX 100 to cover thread and buttons as well as fabric. Props to Galvin Green for taking this initiative. Their packaging is also environmentally friendly.
INSULA sweaters have been updated to include 28 different options, including the super stretchy DANTE ($189) hoodie which features a neckline designed to remain stationary during the swing. Rounding our the models is the DUKE ($189) and DOMINIC ($189)
On the Women’s side of the collection is the GORE-TEX Paclite jacket AILA ($439) that has
hidden pockets and come in four colours. INTERFACE-1 range has the LISA ($239) bodywarmer with a new fabric that has padded inserts on the front and back. There is also the LORENE ($299)
jacket in Red (with body-mapping) for increased warmth where it is needed the most.
Brand new for 2021 is the INSULA range. The DALIA ($99) crew neck sweater comes with a extremely soft fabric and features a pretty cool looking wavy 3D knitted fabric. DAISY ($179) sweater said to be very comfortable and easy to wear.
DINA ($139) is very soft on the arms in part to the lyocell fabric made from eco-friendly wood fibres.
New shirt styles include the MIRA ($99) and MASEY ($99) skort combination outfit which are in a stripe pattern, have UV 20+ protection as well as very good breathability. Rounding out the collection is the long sleeve MARY ($119), which is going after the trend for covering arms out on the course.
The newly expanded VENTIL8™ PLUS shirt range has 38 different shirt options, including the MITCHELL ($99) with UV protection 20+ in four colours and pattern designs. MONTY ($99), MAX ($89) and MILAN ($89) are available with bright Red, Navy and Yellow colour choices.
The MARC ($129) is a long-sleeved shirt available in three colours and the OEKO-TEX 100 certified MARCUS ($99).
Having been able to meet the designers and talk extensively with them regarding design ideology and criteria, I’m sure this next iteration of Galvin Green clothing will be very well received. With the increased rounds being played due the pandemic, this collection is perfectly timed to help grow their brand and create new followers for many years to come.
